Has the Bike Changed Your Life?
It's good that you guys have a backup plan. But choose it and choose it well because it's not easy to change your life when you are 40 with a wife, baby, and mortgages and you wound up enslaving yourself to a job that does not bring you any joy and fulfillment... All because you weren't man enough to make the right choices early in life.
BTW,you can love your family, but a sucky job, even if it pays well, makes it hard to fully enjoy the better things we get.

Sailing and Biking on the Croatian Coastline
My mother is from Cres. I was up by Vransko jezero couple of years ago and I was thinking what a nice place to ride - then I looked down and saw how littered it is with very sharp fist sized rocks. I think I would have to put on the kevlar tires to get through that.
Can you recommend any trail heads or towns for when I'm on Cres and Losinj next summer?
I would image the area around Plitvice must be nice for biking.
