Last Summer was the first time that I visited the Åre bike Park. That time my expectations for the park were really high. Photos from photographers like Mattias Fredriksson and videos of riders like Martin Söderström riding there had made sure of that.
My first visit was almost all about racing because the Åre Enduro Race was held there for the first time and all of my mates were competing in it and I was photographing the event. After the race we got some time to ride some of the other trails other than the Enduro stages, trails like Easy Rider, Shimano trail and Getrappet to name a few. Needless to say that the place lived up to my expectations in a way that the 13 hour drive down there on my good old (non air-conditioned) Ford Transit felt like nothing when we drove there a couple weeks back.
This year, like in the last we were there during the Åre Bike Festival. Fortunately this year Juho Pusa, a friend of mine, was going to skip the Enduro race and just concentrate on riding, beers and photos. A formula that worked pretty well and gave us one damn fun week on our bikes.
Juho Styling it out on Månskogen. These lush green colours in the forests surrounding the trails sure inspire the photographer in me.
Juho doing his warm up runs on Flinbanan. I believe we start our every day with this trail.
Berms for days.
After warming up it´s good to hit some more rugged stuff. Here Juho is entering a trail called Nelson which is one of the more natural trails in Åre bike park.
Big winter storm had felled a lot of trees on the trails. On the trail Nelson it was most obvious with dozens or even hundreds of trees lying everywhere on the ground. If something the fallen trees sure gave the trail kind of cool surroundings.
Juho Riding the Nelson and the beautiful Lake Åresjön appears from between the tree branches.
in addition to smooth super flowy machine build trails Åre can also offer lot of roots, rocks and more technical type of terrain as well. Juho on Nelson.
Had to but some B&W photos here as well. Because Juho likes them better. I myself like the colours at least when they are as nice as in Forests of Åre. Which you guys like better?
Time to wash away the sins(cans) of yesterday with some sparkly water.
On Shimano one just can go with the flow.
Shimano Trails has around 40 features and build in away that everybody on every skill level can enjoy them.
Juho catching some breath and taking in the view before dropping in to a trail called Easy Rider.
Easy Rider is about five kilometres long and full of berms and jumps.
Don't you guys worry I fixed the berm the way it was. How can you not skid on a feature like that..?
Cool thing about Easy Rider is that when it starts from the top and curls down the mountain side for five kilometres you are only on the mid mountain level and you can still connect to all different types of trails. Juho hitting the Uffes Trail.
Juho on the Getrappet Trail. The amount of turns and switchbacks on this trail felt endless but fun. One of my favourite trails.
Juho on Downhillbanan. Åre hosted the 1999 World Mountain Biking Championships and feels a bit odd that there haven't been bigger events since. The place has huge potential to all types of mountain biking.
Riding and Juho are done for this trip.
The nature around Åre is beautiful. You won`t get bored easily even if your not on your bike.

Also you can't get proper beer from supermarkets. Luckily there is an booze store in the village, get the beer with polar bear on the label. Also Broken is a good place to eat in the evenings.
Great pics! i ilke the colors
