Redemption on Revs - BDS Round 5

The time had come to return to Revolution Bike Park for another attempt at the greasy trails and wild speeds needed to place. This time, I had some experience with the speed at least, from a few weeks prior riding in France. British Champs was a crazy race, but this time the track was totally different and I felt ready to give it another go!

Morzine a few weeks earlier.

The drive down was quite interesting to say the least, with a 10 mile mid journey bike ride to find some new brake pads. After we (Cairn Bell, Iain Bell and myself) carried them back and fitted them into the van, we were good to go and arrived at Revolution in the late afternoon hours.

The track on Saturday practice was the usual - with slick rock sections and no loose dirt to be found. However; as practice went on into the late afternoon, sections with heavy breaking started to get rough and wild with new lines forming.

The weather was cloudy and warm; so it made for sweaty and close conditions.

Sunday Morning was pretty usual, 3 runs for practice and I was buzzing to get up for my qualifying run. After what felt like a great run, I was in 12th place about 4 seconds off the pace. Hate it when that happens! As soon as the Elites finished qualifying a 30 minute spout of rain came to try and dampen everyone's spirits for race runs.

Competitors from earlier categories were coming down covered in mud (from crashing or not, who knew?). I went down a handful of clicks on compression front and rear along with a few PSI. I was as ready as I could get!

With a good top half in my race run I made a few linking errors near the middle on the traverse which lost me a few valuable seconds. After nailing the bottom half I pedaled like never before and managed to stay in the hot seat for all apart from 1 rider. The fact that I had managed to get into the hot seat at all shocked me! Here is a few clips from Saturday practice and the Sunday afternoon.
