77designz Issues Precautionary Recall on One-Piece Stem
Ideally you would have the stem forged, then machined for finishing. Forging has limitations in design and precision, but has the benefit of stronger grain structure. Machining removes many of those design limitation, and can (possibly) result in a stronger product due to additional freedom in design/geometry. Generally forging (high upfront cost) is economical in higher volume production, while machining (extremely expensive machining time per piece) is economical for low volume production.

Race Face Narrow Wide Chainring - Review
Yea, my chain dropped twice last ride (just xc too) with a 9 speed x9 der and a 32t nw. PB seems to say it works without a clutch, so I assumed itd be fine for xc. Is it because the 9 speed chain is too wide for the ring to grip correctly?

First Look: Hyper's Prototype All-Mountain Machine - Sea Otter 2013
If they release nice new products, I don't see the problem in liking it. This is clearly a step up from their previous offerings and I like that.
