Are you ready for a winter warm up? As mountain bikers living in Scotland we spend pretty much half the year riding in the dark and looking forward to the summer race events. As we spend so much time on night rides; we thought why not embrace the long winter nights? And so the idea was born to hold a mountain bike race organised for riders by riders.
Every year riders compete in a variety of events during spring and summer. Then autumn arrives, the nights draw in and for the next few months it’s all about winter training. What better way to end the winter months than to have a fun enduro with day and night stages? It might be cold, muddy, possibly icy and even snowy (this is Scotland after all) but it'll be good fun. Over the last few weeks myself and my partner John, better known as Scouse, have been organising a day and night enduro which will be held on 6th February 2016. The race will be held at Ae in Dumfriesshire. Scouse moved to the area 5 years ago “to ride his bike more” and not only the knows the trails like the back of his hand, he’s built a fair few of them too.
Ae Forest not only has one of the best and most popular downhill tracks on the British race circuit it also boasts a plethora of secret trails and enduro perfect routes. The race will feature some challenging trails, but we welcome riders of all abilities from amateurs to pro riders, as it’s all about having fun. Sorry but this isn’t suitable for beginners. This is a one-day event on 6th February 2016 comprising of two timed stages and untimed transition stages, taking you on a tour of some great mountain bike trail riding. Riders will race each stage during the day and when the sun goes down you'll race each stage again at night. Which will give four timed stages to make up your overall time. Fastest overall stage times in each category wins; it’s that simple.
We are pleased to announce we’re using the latest contactless timing system from Sportident. The SPORTident Air+ Contactless will enable riders roll through stage starts and flying finishes without 'dibbing' and timing down to 1/1000 of a second so reducing the chances of riders having the same stage times. Results will be available immediately at the end of the race, and published online. The race is open to everyone over the age of 16, you do not need to have a license to compete. Race entry is £40. A limited number of early bird tickets for £30 are available. We look forward to seeing you there. For more information or to enter head to the
