Bienvenidos a Valparaiso, Chile! Every year for the last 12 years Valparaiso has hosted this urban DH race. Living in Argentina at this time of year, it is close for me to pop over the mountains for the race. That said, this was the first time I have been able to make it! It was an experience I won't forget soon and I hope to be able to make it back next year. The amount of spectators that come from all over South America and beyond is huge. Judging by the murals of bikers in the streets, the people are pretty welcoming to the sport here.

The stair gap. Timing out the gap over this set of stairs was a move that only a few of the racers opted for, shaving seconds off their run.

Marcelo Gutierrez, defending champion from last year, stayed on the podium, but dropped to second place this year.

The crowds that gather for the Valparaiso Cerro Abajo are incredible. People love racing in Latin America.

I would be kind of scared running into a dog or even worse hitting my handle bar on a hand rail going like 50.

+1 Those chutes look soo narrow. Need full body armor for this course.

A frontal lobotomy would just flatten you mate. Ventral amygdalofugalectomy (which isn't a real procedure but the main pathway of the brain associated with fear) would be helpful, but it is closely wired to your pleasure centres. Guess that's why we love a danger buzz Smile

Definitely not a lobotomy; I'd want the whole thing taken out before I tried to race that!
