R-Cubed NICA Composite team racing at New York NICA first race in 2016 at Lippman Park
After the first race on April 3rd at Blue Mountain Park in Peekskill, NY was canceled due to snow the R-Cubed NICA Composite team headed to Lippman Park in Warwarsing, NY (just outside of Kingston) on April 17th for the first race of the season. Lippman Park is beautiful place to ride with tons of flowy singletrack, berms, features, and bridges making it a great place to start off the season. Turnout was great with over 270 riders overall of which 90 were competing at the middle school level. The team had an excellent showing getting 6th out of 21 teams using only 9 riders that were eligable for points. In addition to the awesome group result we also had a couple of riders make it onto the podium with Rory Taylor grabbing a 3rd in Freshman girls and Chris Slingerland grabbing a 4th in 6th grade boys. This is a fantastic start to the season and a demonstration of the work put in by the team over the winter. Coaches could not be more proud of the team for their effort but also their attitude and grace during some scoring challenges faced by New York NICA's new system.
Next race on May 1st at Thatcher Park, just outside of Albany, NY and will be the closest race to home for the team. So tell your friends and bring them out to see some of the action and take in the beautiful views which make up the great Thatcher park.
