"This year’s Steel City Downhill will be awesome. It's such a great atmosphere for spectators and riders combined – get up here and give the racers a cheer, sample the great food and sink an ale” – Steve Peat

This Saturday will see 300 racers and over 3000 spectators gather in Grenoside woods, attracting mountain bike fans from across the country. The sixth Steel City Downhill will be bigger and better than ever before as it’s Peaty’s last race season before his retirement from competing in World Cups. His #LastOrders.

From midday, riders will set off from the start ramp at 30-second intervals, flying down the trail at high speeds with a second opportunity to beat their time later on in the afternoon. With entrants from kids to Grannies, World Cup racers to first-timers, the event really is one of a kind.

This year we are going all out with food and drink stalls. Including Street Food Chef, Nether Edge Pizza Co., Bradfield Brewery, Whirlow Hall Farm, Adventure Cafe and the Bean Rover. Add music and entertainment throughout the day, plus it being free of charge, it's a great day out. Just bring a noise maker to cheer the riders down the hill with and savour a great festival atmosphere that the whole family can enjoy. We have a long list of exhibitors to keep you entertained including our own merchandise stall with the raddest Tees' and Hoodies known to man thanks to TADO.

We're out to raise as much money for the trails as possible so please bring plenty of cash to buy our merchandise, it all goes back into the woods. Please also bring as many friends and family as you can.

After the race we're all off to the New Barrack Tavern on Penistone Road where each racer will receive a free pint of Bradfield Ale to celebrate and commiserate with all our mates.

Directions for Peaty s Steel City DH

Parking
If you are driving to the race you must park in our official car park. Parking anywhere else, in the public greno car park or on the road, jeopardises the running of the race on the day and in future. Please be responsible and tell others if you see them. We want to keep running this race!

Parking is in Farmer Jack’s field, at Hall Head Farm on Woodhead Road, the entrance will be clearly marked. It is marked on the map above by the car and the closest postcode is S35 7DS but don't rely on it for a Sat Nav. Do not try to come in the exit, it is a one-way system.

Parking is £3 per vehicle and offsets the loss of hay earnings from damage to the grass in the field. The car park opens at 7am it will close for entry at 3pm. It's about a 10-minute walk to the start of the track from here. Please remove your car as soon as possible after the race.

Auctions
This year we have a great frame donated by SantaCruz UK to auction off to swell the trail building fund. We just need you to buy it! They have given us a Santa Cruz Tallboy frame with Fox CTD shock. This is currently for sale over on Ebay. Please bid generously, this is a very good cause.

ALSO!

Sixth Element has donated a Carbon Wheel Set for us to auction off. They will build a brand new carbon wheelset to your specification in any wheel size and width. This is an amazing offer as they retail for £900 with Hope hubs and Unidirectional weave Toray T700 Carbon Rims, enhanced with 3K weave around the internal spoke bead. These are also on sale over on Ebay...get bidding!

This year we will be running a tombola for a large selection of prizes. Tickets will be only £1 with a star prize of £250 of JE James vouchers. Every race sponsor will also be providing a prize for the prize pot, so there will be lots to choose from.

Haven't made it the last two years due to work, managed to get tomorrow off so was all set to go! Then last week a taxi decided to knock me off my bike. Think I'm destined to never be there. Good luck to all the riders, have fun whatever the weather.

Snow in the car park this morning, much spinning of wheels. Tracks pretty dry - no spikes required. It's even sunny now!

Snow spikes fitted. Gonna be cold.

Is there a 'this is peaty" series this season?

He said last year that T.I.P would be back when he was back racing so I I would think so. I hope so anyway. This Is Peaty and The Syndicate are some of the best behind the scenes videos all season.

Think it's just the syndicate video now, pretty much same idea
