Every year the boys over at Singletrack Jamaica gather together a set of likeminded individuals and undertake a whistle stop riding tour of Jamaica, of course stopping off at a lot of beaches and involving numerous beers! We tagged along to see what the jahmannnn rasta spirit was all about and we were not disappointed!
I climbed Blue Mountain eons ago when I was 7 in Cub Scouts. Likkle white pickney deh. My family moved to Corner Brook, Newfoundland when I was 8. Island hoppers, I guess. Now, I'm in beautiful 'Berta, Canada. Jamaican, Newfie, Redneck, Rass. A bit of a cultural mutt, a part of me always feels that I am Jamaican.
Trails are mostly public but are a link up of access trails following water pipes, paths to remote farmers fields and high elevation villages. Usually getting to the trailhead involves a complicated shuttle with lots of elevation gain. Local knowledge and guides required to make the best of your riding day. Singletrack Jamaica has bikes available for their tours but I always bring mine.
