This bike rips the descents and lets you get away with a lot... still pedals uphill quite efficiently and has some really great traction and geometry for climbing tech trails. Only selling because I tore my ACL and am not supposed to ride trails this summer after surgery :-(. I bought this bike it halfway through 2017 from a mechanic who had built it piece by piece and then I rode it for one and a half seasons, along with a couple other bikes. In my opinion this is a perfect budget friendly bike for someone looking to progress on technical western slope (i.e. lunch loops) / Moab trails who likes going downhill but also wants reasonable pedaling efficiently and a nice margin of error for trying new obstacles, riding faster, etc. both down and up, and it’s not going to break when you drop it in the rocks like a carbon bike. In my opinion it’s built to balance durability and confidence with keeping it reasonably lightweight. I think it would also be fine getting rowdy in the bike parks, and that was my plan for it this season, but alas.

2016 Trek Slash 8 aluminum full suspensions mtb, black with orange trim, frame size is ~19.5 from trek, or I would say medium / large. It’s a little shorter in the effective top tube length than some other “19.5” bikes. I’m ~6’2” but I like my bikes to fit a little small. Depending on preferences, body proportions, and choice of stem/bars, I think it could fit anyone from ~5’9” up to 6’2” or thereabouts. Saddle height as pictured in the clamp is ~75cm from bottom bracket center to saddle top (with the 150mm dropper ally the way up). Frame has ~160mm rear travel. Non-“boost.” Excellent functional condition. Minor surface scratches and normal wear/ tear in normal areas, some tire sealant residue on frame that rubs off with patience. Paint in great shape overall.

Upgraded rear shock to a Rockshox Monarch Plus with piggyback. Tons of onboard tunability and the option to add and subtract “tokens” easily for more progressive feel. I’ve got a few tokens in it now.

Industry-nine tubeless “trail” wheelset , non-“boost.” good used condition. 27.5 wheel size. Fresh tape and sealant for tubeless setup.

Maaxis Ardent 2.4 (rear) and Highroller (2.4) front. I think this combo balances shredding and pedaling from the desert to the mountains. Others will tell you that you want some rowdier tires but they add a lot of rotating weight imo.

XT 11 speed derailleur, shifter, and brakes, with SRAM 10-42 rear cassette, good used condition.

Sram GX crankset, 32T X-sync sram chainring

Matching “muckynutz” mudguard

Bontranger aluminum bars, real wide ~800+ mm, can cut them shorter easily

Easton Haven stem

150mm rockshox reverb dropper, works perfectly.

Niner brand basic lightweight saddle.

Rockshox Pike 160mm RCT3 fork up front, suspension is in excellent condition, one tiny nick on stanchions.
