2011 Ventana El Conquistador Tandem, 17/16, S&S XTR Di2 CK

Ventana El Conquistador de Montanas all-mountain tandem. This tandem was built with S&S couplers, so this bike can be disassembled and packed for easy airplane flights to far-off trails. Ventana is a Made-In-California brand; we picked up this frame at the factory in Rancho Cordova in 2011. Since then, the entire bike has been maintained to a high standard and is ready to ride.

All S&S-coupled frames are made from chro-mo steel tubing.

Spec:
-Shimano XTR Di2 (all components) installed from new in 2020. Includes dual XTR shifters, XTR display, and XTR derailleurs. Will also include the Di2 system charger/laptop interface.
-Chris King hubs on indestructible Sun MTX33 wheels, laced with Sapim Strong spokes. 20mm front axle, Chris King Fun Bolts bolt-on rear axle.
-Middleburn tandem crankset, with 3x11 gearing
-Shimano Ultegra 11-34 cassette (largest 5 cogs on spiders)
-Cockpit is a mashup of Shimano and FSA bars, RaceFace stoker seatpost, and Thomson captain's seat post. Adjustable stoker bar positioning with the stoker stem.
-Brakes are Hope Mono 6Ti, huge six-piston DH calipers with braided stainless brake lines. Freshly serviced in 2020 with new pads, caliper seals, and fluid. 203mm brake rotors.
-Rear suspension is 4" travel with Fox RP23 Boost shock
-Front suspension is currently Marzocchi dual-crown 66EVO with 38mm stanchions, 200mm travel. This is overkill, but with 200lb captain and 135lb stoker, given the trails we ride (mostly) around Newbury Park, it makes the bike much more capable. A lighter team could swap on a 100mm dirt jump fork, which can still be had in 26" sizes, and would vastly drop the standover heights F/R.

Service history:
I maintain our tandems in-house and just within the last year or so I have:
-serviced the CK hubs completely (I have the CK hub service tool)
-serviced the rear shock with new Fox air seal kit
-installed one new bottom bracket
-replaced the drive chain
-serviced the brake calipers with new Hope seal kits and fluid flush, new rear pad install
-installed new Shimano XTR Di2 drivetrain (shifters, display, cables, battery, front and rear derailleurs)
This bike, because of Shimano Di2, doesn't need an "adjustment" for the shifting - no cables to change, get dirty, or stretch out.

$3000 for the same bike and build, except Shimano XT 11sp mechanical shifting (shifters, derailleurs).
$2000 for frame, fork, wheels

Pedals not included, can provide flats for local test ride or bring your own. Current standover heights with 200mm fork: Captain 33.5", Stoker 31.5".

We've had this for years and put lots of miles on it, and lots of smiles. The only reason it is up for sale is because we have a new frame on order from Ventana to build up!
