2022 Mongoose Jasper 24 ExtraSmall Fat Bike

What time is it ? Its time for another 24 inch wheel fat bike build. This is what I would consider a Stage 2 upgrade as it addresses the cockpit and the drivetrain while also dropping the weight of the bike quite a bit from stock. As sold by Mongoose the bike comes as a 1x7 Microshift drivetrain with a 36T chainring and 14-28 7sp freewheel (which is inadequate gearing for snow riding), mechanical disc brakes with levers that are way too long a reach for small hands, cheap plastic adult foot sized pedals, a large adult size saddle, BB cups which are unsealed to the elements, a twist grip shifter that's sticky in cold weather, inadequate grease on all the bearings and a LOT of steel parts which combined for nearly 38 pounds of bike weight. Bike was completely taken apart down to the bare frame and then reassembled. All the bearings now have a generous amount of waterproof grease and the hub cones have been adjusted so the wheels spin properly.

- 12 inch seat tube, 25.75 inch stand over height, 70HA/73SA, 21.2 inch effective top tube length. good for riders between 4'8 and 5'6 according to Mongoose's sizing guide (but I think 5'4 should be the upper limit). The bike essentially fits like a small frame 26 x 2.1 tired mountain bike. but the above information (and the bar/stem info below) should help you narrow it down if its right for you or your children.

- 1x7 drivetrain with a Shimano Tourney thumbshifter, Microshift rear derailleur, Shimano MegaRange 14-34 freewheel, Prowheel Charm alloy crankset with 28T narrow-wide profile chainring and KMC Z51 chain.
- BB cups have been upgraded to sealed ones.
