2022 Electrical Engineer 3 - Multiple Locations

POSITION CAN BE BASED IN: SCOTTS VALLEY (CA), BURNABY (CANADA)

Position Summary:
An exciting role exists for an electrical design engineer within the Bicycle Mechatronics Group at FOX. The primary application is bicycles, but there is close collaboration with other groups in the company that focus on motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), snowmobiles, trophy trucks, and automobiles. A personal interest in mountain bikes is advantageous.

A familiarity with semi-active actuator development, software design, embedded programming, electronic circuit design, control system design, instrumentation development, electronic component integration and test, breadboarding, sensor integration, filtering, data acquisition and signal analysis is preferred. The candidate will be part of a small team and must be a creative, forward thinker who can work independently. Occasional travel, both domestic and overseas, is anticipated.

Position Responsibilities:
• Embedded/firmware programming preferred (ARM primarily)
• Design, Build, test, troubleshoot, and rework prototype PCBAs. Fine SMD rework is a plus.
• Comfortable with instrumentation development, sensor integration, data acquisition
• Support design and development activities for semi-active suspension systems with integrated electronics, sensors and controls
• demonstrate flexible, dedicated, highly motivated work history, and will be instrumental in the development of innovative concepts and next generation IP

Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:
• Knowledge of C programming and Python
• Experience using GitHub (or equivalent) and the Agile methodology
• Experience with electric circuit design and component selection
• Experience designing, assembling, testing and troubleshooting embedded systems, both analog and digital, to component level.
• Familiarity with SPI/I2C
• Experience writing device drivers
• Experience with development tools such as Matlab and Simulink would be an advantage
• Experience with CE/EMC-type compliance testing and certification
• Experience with 2.4 GHz wireless protocols such as Bluetooth LE or Ant+ would be an advantage
• Experience with suspension systems and vehicle dynamics is advantageous
• Experience with mobile app design would be an advantage
• Knowledge of plastic enclosure design

Position Qualifications:
Education:
• Minimum BS in engineering or similar

Experience:
• Minimum 5 years as an Embedded/Electronics Engineer or equivalent
