it depends, if your on a budget get the bass, the bass complete retails for pretty close to what the wildcard frame retails for. if youve got the cash definatly build up a wildcard its an amazing bike

Wildcard, the way the linkages are set up the suspension will work ALOT better then the bass, i got one now and its worth it. amazingly fun bike.

The new banshee stuff has had a lot of time and development put into it. It is well worth the money as the boys at banshee mean buisness!

and you can put up to 180 mm on the banshee and like only 140mm on the bass

Wildcard...speedgoat.com claims to have the frame only for $1585 w/dhx 3.0. It could probably be built for a decent price. And should weigh in at 35-40 lbs. without destroying the wallet. That being said I have no idea what the Bass is set up like or how much it costs.

you can easily build a Wildcard around 31-32lb singlespeed and around 34-35lb with gears

my WC is just under 35lb and rides pretty damn sweet

of course its gonna cost more $$ for the WC but its a better quality frame than the Kona, with a more refined, superior version of the "faur-bar" suspension system

Your WC is snazzy, there isn't even anything too crazy on it. Good job.

When I refered to the bike being 35-40 lbs, I was imagining a tighter budget build likely ending up weighing more. Like what I would end up with if I "parted out" as much as I could from my DH bike and only buying a used s/c fork, B.B and seatpost etc. Then replacing the heavier things (rims and tires, etc.) as i could afford.

For $2500 (less than buying a new Bass) It would end up weighing about 39 lbs. sorry for the huge post.

the spec on my Wildcard is as follows

Wildcard with Fox 08 DHX Air
Rockshox 08 Lyric 2-step Air fork
Cane Creek Double Xc headset
Thomson 4X 31.8mm 50mm stem
Easton EA-70 31.8mm riser bar
Praxxis alloy seatpost
SDG Ti saddle
Shimano Saint HT2 crank with E13 36T chainring
E13 ISCG 05 STS (the smaller 36T max)
SRAM X-9 transmission with 11-28 cassette
Sun Singletrack 32H rims on Hope Pro2 hubs (20mm and 135mm x 10mm bolt-up)
Syncros BHT Kevlar 2.5" tires
Stan's No-Tubes tubeless conversion (freeride rim strips)
Avid Juicy 7 185mm/185mm brakes
Syncros Mental alloy pedals

nothing crazy...could go lighter with more $$$

I hope I haven't insulted you, sorry if I have. Your bike kicks ass, great specs. It can't get more perfect (strong, and light). But, it would cost $4000 plus to build one up that well.

The guy who started this forum asked which one was BETTER. With the Bass retailing around $2500, I assumed he only wanted to spend around $2500. I also assumed you didn't buy yours for $2500...Did you?

If I had the $2500 to spend on a Bass, I wouldn't...I'd buy a Wildcard frame and poach my RM7 (making my version of the Wildcard weighing approx. 38 lbs). Alot of people have nice light set up's, but with only a $2500 investment, a completed bike probably wouldn't be under 35 lbs. With that being said, buying somthing heavy (or not as well spec'd) because it's cheaper, just ends up in regret.

This is why I think the Wildcard is the better bike.
