Recently a local trail some guys from tulsa have built mix of a little dh and freeride has been vandalized. they have broken glass bottles over the trail, actually torn down a huge bridge that was built for a landing for a rock drop and built a fort out of it?? stole some of the wooden jumps and so on. has anyone else had problems like these and if so how did you resolve them without retaliation or more destruction. we just want it to stop and protect the trail. help!!

build them tough to begin with, just like if you didnt want a house to get vandalized, use strong materials. if using dirt, find somewhere hidden and before digging, check the dirt. if its majorly clay like than thats probably your best bet. for wood, your only hope is to use very strong building timber, and really build it propperly. use well placed supporting struts, and dont be worried about overbuilding. the only real problem is burning which I have no answer for as of yet...

dig with quite a few buddies, and get just one feature (eg a kicker, berm lander etc) built in about half a day. this way you have the right amount of time to propperly shape it, pack it, compact it and everything similar. do this my spraying it evenly with water usually, dont forget the back and sides too! when you pat down the feature, look for anything that crumbles, or doesnt stick together. if it compacts but you can still brush a lot off with your finger/broom or something, it needs more water to help it compact.

another great thing I found helped with keeping our trails solid was concrete. dont actually make concrete jumps, but just spray the kicker/berm with water and just lightly sprinkle some concrete powder over the finished faces, spray again with water, and leave overnight. you'll get some sweet trails this way Smile

Put up a professional looking sign saying how you have legal authority to shoot unauthorized people on sight with (air gun/sand bag gun, something along those lines) and they will be taken to court, and say penalty like £300 or somat :L should work

haha we did something like that but we had no problem with vandelism, just little kids running about on them whilst they were drying! just put up a health and safety notice and all of a sudden they became untouched Big Grin

we had a simerlar problem we just souted at the kids and thretend them with shovels

our trail was a root to school for the majority of people that went there so it was hard keeping it under control

also the dog walkers hated us for neer fatal experiences so we just moved out

I had the same problem at my local dj's some one chopped down a tree int the entrance and no one could get to the main set of jumps since most of the bmxers and DJers go there in two days Some people built a ramp going right over the log so we all gained A new ramp Smile
