im personaly using a totem solo air 2008
a great fork, intended for fr and used in fr. the air spring isnt as sensitive as the coil, but i dont need it anyway, cause im riding fr (on a hardtail) just to clear things out, ive riden a coil too, but im more confortable with the air, cause i can pump it as i want on the fly (and not dissasembling the fork like the coil version preowned), stiffer or softer, variates on the ride (despite the compression)

ive riden the 66 rc2x and the 66 vf
the vf was awfull, but the rc2x had a great damper, way better than the totem and it is ridden better on dh

though, im curious about the new totem with the dh damper, id surely like to test it

Yes just get it tuned,a tuned 170mm fork will out perform a un tuned 200mm travel fork.

And you can x-up the final jump at said race to impress the crowd Wink

On topic.

By buddy races a Totem and he complained about chattering on the bars alot. He put carbon bars on and he hasnt said much lately.
