Are those homemade toe straps?

Nope, they are called 'Bagatoe' straps, they are handmade i think and they were cheap ones

Cool. I was reading an article in Bicycle Times that had a section on making your own toe straps, and they looked very similar to those. It was reader submitted, but I wouldn't be surprised if that article was inspired by a design like yours.

Do you grab the drops from under or over the bar?

Posted: Mar 30, 2012 at 16:00 Quote
i grab it from the top.. usually only on the tips of the bull horns when i'm seated in a tuck on open flats

Is that even remotely comfortable, or just doing it for the workout?

it's pretty comfy for me.. i bboy so flexibility is something i don't lack... plus when im on the seat i dig deep and counter balance all my weight down on the pedals

hope it makes sense

Have you considered a bar with more drop?

Like this?

That way you could get into a similar body position without that ridiculous angle.

i actually raised up the angle a bit so its closer to being parallel to the ground but not quite.. i've decided to just swap my drop bars when i feel like getting low....
