Just brand new frame so not sure if it's worth having them send back?

Depends, if someone did it post-production without proper heat treatment, it should worry you. Only to the point where your BB will crack again in the future, and I can't imagine a circumstance where a failure there will end in any sort of disaster.

Sorry, is this brand new from a shop, or "used" but with no use? If it's from a shop make it their problem, if it is a problem.

You don't notice the extra wide yolk and stays, but the bike is 100% capable, pedals well but not light footed, climbs great for how lax it is.
If surly did a similar update to the karate monkey I'd buy 2.

Maybe have the shop email trek with the serial # and see if they have record of the repair. Seems odd. I'd at least ask for a discount lol

Personally, I'd get in touch with them and either assuage your fears or have them organize a return if it wasn't bought through a shop. Trek ain't no boutique shop, take advantage of their customer service.

So I'm finally getting off my high horse (i.e. a 29er hardtail) and have started looking for a 29er full suspension to take its place; These are more or less the characteristics I'm looking for:

Frame weight ~6 lbs, totally fine with carbon
HT angle ~68
Rear travel 100-120mm
Fork 120-130mm
Rear hub spacing 142*12mm
At least 1 bottle mount.

Up until now I have come across three bikes that fit (in order of preference):
1) Evil The Following
2) Rocky Mountain Instinct SL
3) Specialized Camber

Can anyone recommend anything else? Thanks!

Look at the transition smuggler, it's a patrol with big wheels.

Evil the following, Banshee phantom (might weigh a bit) and the Transition smuggler also weighing a bit would be good shouts.
