California is a big state. The southern part of the state has Big Bear resort... but not known for freeride as far as I know.
San Louis Obispo has great riding, but is on fire right now.

It's about Winter time now, which usually shuts down a lot of spots in the North, especially in the mountains, however it's been a pretty dry year so far so you may luck out.
