Must Watch: Mindblowing Flow at Ray's MTB - Video
So glad to be living in an era where style & flow are finally valued in MTB. The past few years have been especially great!... 2008, 1998... not so much.

SRAM Eagle Electronic Shifting Spotted on Nino Schurter's Scott
Been riding XT Di2 for over a year now. It shifts faster & more accurately than cables. So... if you race or you shift a lot... you want this. Simple. Same thing as hydraulic brakes and dropper posts-- not truly needed but make riding much more enjoyable.

Frostbike 2018: New Tires, Shoes, and Sealant
@bonkywonky: search out SCG Shoe Co ... they're an underdog for sure, but they claim zero delaminations ever. I've ridden the same pair for over a year, without a single stitch coming out. The company just isn't attending the big trade shows or buying flashy ads.. but the shoes are for real.

Kona Wah Wah II Flat Pedals - Review
A sealed-bearing pedal at $50 to $70 is something that's sorely needed in MTB. Concave is the smarter move for sure, too. And Kona has made such good pedals for a long time. Good job there! But plastic & the giant size seem to be misses... seemingly just to follow the current trend and "placate the masses". I'd buy magnesium + smaller platform Wah Wah II's for the rest of my life.

Shimano Patent Filing Raises Electric Questions
I thought so too, but ultimately put Di2 in the same basket with hydro brakes and dropper posts... unneeded but great to have.

Shimano Patent Filing Raises Electric Questions
@conoat: yeah my Di2 lasted 6 months on a single charge, and that was during race season. No worries here. It's not like your iPhone where it dies every day.

Carbon vs Aluminum: Separating Environmental Fact From Fiction in the Frame Materials Debate
I'm also curious to read about a variation like "carbon vs. everything else"... In the case of the automotive industry, there's about a window until brands are facing restrictions on their mainstays (internal combustion engines). So, they're all scrambling to come out with full-electric technology just in case if/when those laws take effect (and not just another Prius, but even the sports cars and offroad segments). With plastics too... more and more industries and municipalities are clamping down on plastic usage due to it's known pollution effects (harbors toxins, sickens animal life, etc). Carbon bikes include a lot of plastic. So it's not too far off to think that we'll see restrictions (Ie: Plastics limited to medical, carbon fiber limited to aerospace). Seems like MTB brands could take a page from car manufacturers, and have a backup plan ready to ramp up over the next decade. What other materials are out there?? I'm happy with my metal bikes :)
