About to get 4.2 and can’t decide coil or air shock. I have ridden only air shocks so far and think about going with air again, but I see that most of the meta build are with coil shocks. Shock will be RS Deluxe RCT.
If you're super lightweight, coil. Bellow something like 50-60kg, a coil shock might be "necessary" to have some small bump compliance. Above 90-95kg, forget about the coil spring and go air, with enough tokens in the air can. If you can find the right spring, chances are you'll spend all day long bottoming out (the V4.2 is not progressive enough in my opinion)
If you're in between, it mostly come down to preference ...

I've had an air on all my bikes, until the Meta. If I was doing 'trail' esque riding I would likely stick to the air can, but the coil has been amazing for small bump and really solid overall, far better for my riding style (5-15 min descents for normal riding/ bike parks/ enduro racing). I wish i had a coil on some of my previous bikes its been so good
Does anyone know If a 2.5wt aggressor will fit the rear of a v4?
I've a 2.4 dh tire on the back and there's still plenty of space left, I'm pretty sure you have enough space for 2.5, but maybe I'd go for the 2.4 WT just in case
i just replaced the guide brakes with saints. internal routing was a pain just as expected, but the stopping power is so awesome! exceeds my expectations
