Those weights are both 2009 at same size. Go to Competitivecyclist.com and you can see for yourself. You can build one and see weight or just see frame weight. They no longer have the CCDB option on the M6 which according to my notes was 9.1 lbs. The V-10 canbe lighter w/ Fox DHX 5.0 vs the Vivid but I can assure you from experience that even a PUSH tuned DHX does not compare to the ride of a Vivid 5.1! Yet still it will not be lighter than the M6 no matter what. You really do need to read a lot of reviews and ride them if you can especially since both are so expensive. My recommendation if you are not over 6'2" is the M6 if you are racing. If you are not racing go with the V10 so it will last a bit longer. Both will no doubt be a killer ride but in racing you want the lightest.
im not looking to argue. but my Anodized 09 V10 was 9.2 pounds with DHX 5.0 and steel coil.
now thats just arguing, because thats 2 frames lighter than the session.:P
but see. that is a common missconception. peopel look at the V10 and because it loks complicated the automatically think its a heavy bike. but in all reality its a fiarly light bike for what it is

indeed, one of the few race rigs that can be built sub 40 with ease

ooor try maybe stock parts kit. and only parts changed out are tubes and saddle.
went from 1.8 pounds (each) Kenda DH tubes. to specialized standard 2.3 tubes that weight .6 pounds each. thats 2.4 pounds off of the stock build. put on an SLR italia saddle and you have a 37 pound build. with yet still heavy cranks and wheels. (and of course some other parts if your a true weight weenie)
i'm looking for a new DH bike for this season, would the V10 or M6 be good choice bike to run my 2.8" tires without worrying about the tires touching the frame and fork?
