The Race face ring has given me no problems at all. I have the same setup on two of my bikes. and in total about 1200 miles on one bike and 300+ miles on the other.
I have had no problems whatsoever on either bike with the drivetrain.

I live close to Jensonusa.com so I bought everything thru them.
In total it cost me about $240 US, to switch to a 1x11.
I had to by the XT shifter, XT rear derailleur, XT Chain, XT 11-42 cassette, and the Raceface 32 tooth chainring.

I couldn't be happier. Pics of my bikes with this equipment is in my profile

I replaced my 32t Race Face that came on my bike with a cheap $15 36t because the color matched my bike. Other than gaining one higher gear and loose one low gear, they ride the same. I bought a new chain thinking I would need 4 more links, but that was over a year ago and the original chain fit and is still working great and well as the cheaper aluminum chainring. Like I said earlier, when I need to replace the drivetrain when it wears, I plan to get the new Shimano 11-42 10 speed and a 38t. I road over an hour today on our hardest trail and never used my 40 rear. Bike is a 2014 RM Altitude 770 Rally.

I don’t see a reason to go 11-speed with 11-42 over 10-speed 11-42. A SRAM 10-42 11-speed is more range, but to me not worth the extra cost. If you ride where you need a granny gear, 11-46 11-speed would make a difference and may be worth paying for. My 11-13-16-19-21-24-28-32-36-40 works for me, but the Sunrace/Shimano 10-speed 11-13-15-18-21-24-28-32-36/37-42 is perfect spacing between gears. The 11-speed Shimano is 11-13-15-17-19-21-24-28-32-36-42, no gain.
