I have a 08 55r that I have torn down and done a couple of mods to. I love it. Turned the cartridge into a "open bath" using instructions a tech at marzocchi sent me, then I dropped it to 120mm from 160mm with a new spring and a shim... The thing is awesome. It is a perfect fit for my Kona Cowan Frame.

Eh came on bike, and i like my bike. 55 is good enough in my books. Was tossin idea of a larger fork but decided will just upgrade whole bike when needed.

i almost bought a set but then i read several reviews and was told by about 5 other people that they were utter shite. Apparently the internals die.

So i got pike 454 airs instead....No regrets there.Smile

conceptually they're good
a bit burlier than pikes, and a 160mm fork for the masses who cant afford a 36 or lyric but dont wont a domain

but they fail in the real world and i wouldnt take the risk that i get the lame one that is always being sent away when i should be riding

Sorry for grave digging but does anybody know if it's normal for a 09 55 rc3 to make a swooshing/sucking noise when being compressed/ rebounding?

Well maintained and their sweet. Otherwise pieces fall off them.

I've got one of those too. I found it wasn't as plush over the small stuff as I liked. And do you ever lock it out? If I'm climbing something steep enough to warrant locking the fork, I don't want the front end that high. If it would lock down I might use that feature...

So, when I ended up breaking the damper cartridge one day, I converted the TST2 to a shim stack. So much plusher. It's even adjustable with the TST lever. They should make them this way.

its ok, it means that the fork is maintained and working good, all the plush marz forks do that

hate them, they're junk! almost all marzocchi forks are junk except maybe the 66 and the 888. Get a fox, you might pay more but you're buying quality.

oh ye, the 4X and DJ1 are so shit that NO pro's run them.

pros can ride them because they have mechanics that fix them up properly or always tune them for the pro. if you're not a pro and are buying an average marzocchi priced fork ur getting trash. their customer service, on the other-hand, is great! but this is coming from riding 2008 models and below. i really hope they stepped up their game recently.

i rode a 2010 55 and it just feels awsome, much like a nicely tuned 09 66 RC3

that's good to hear that marzocchi mid-range forks are improving because i know i'm not the only person whose had problems with older models.
