Why not try what a few have tried before? Find a way to make a peg that rolls. Just make it a sleeve that goes over a peg and rolls.

I know they would suck, but if he's going to waste his effort, he might as well try and make something people haven't made millions of times but with a slightly different thickness.
And my conception wasn't planned, I was an accident; as I'm guessing you were.
