I think they're making suggestions to try and be helpful, as for you your response looks like you're sitting on a fence. Being lazy and expecting other people to work it out for you.

Although they helped you widen your search and you could always just contact shock companies, Fox are more than happy to help and well Marzocchi I don't know never had to deal with them. Avalanche never had to deal with them either but they could be helpful. So just email specialised and fox shox etc...

Thanks for the advice old wise one.... I have already called fox, Marzocchi, Specialized and every bike shop in the greater Tucson and Phoenix area and no one could answer my question which is exactly why I chose to put a thread on Pinkbike. I figured someone with a demo 9 might have some experience with different shock set ups. The oh so philanthropic avalanche guys didn't help a bit. As far as being "lazy" goes, I am anything but and have proved that here. Let see who's "lazy" when a big word like "philanthropic" comes up. Go look it up.... Stay in school bro, stay in school and put down the devil's lettuce(which I enjoy so much) long enough to respond with anything worthy of the 15 seconds I just gave away and will never get back.

Well, you can't really judge me because of my age considering you are older than me but you are having problems with such a simple matter. I mean if you were so much wiser because of your age you could solve it no problem! A really easy way to see if just looking at photos of demo 9's on pink bike... Or is that not specific enough for your marvelous and over rated self ?

Oh and might I add to my immature comment because that is all a person of my age can produce, immature material. That I am so utterly offended by your stab at my age... Oh no the assumption that a teenager doesn't understand "philanthropic" is pathetic, do you believe that since you are older you are more intelligent than anyone younger? Or are you just making an attempt to "humiliate" me and try and make yourself feel better by possibly outwitting a youth...

Jallan,

I appreciate your tenacity and persistence, I really do. Even more, if you do know what philanthropic means, that's fantastic because most people your age do not know what the tropics are let alone philanthropic. I am not trying to humiliate you but YOUR assumption that I had not done my homework and that I am in YOUR words "Lazy" and sitting on a fence, was out of line.Ask someone older than you what "ASSUMING" does and they will tell you it makes an ass out of you!! I take solice in knowing that no one on pinkbike(even with Demo 9's) could give me the answer I was looking for and I through shit tons of money and time in my garage, found the answer and then so philanthropically gave the answer to those in the community(check the other thread). Lazy? Seriously dude!! Just remember to think about what you are writing and saying and how someone might take it. If you haven't anything nice to say(calling someone lazy does not qualify as nice), keep your f'in mouth shut!

Sincerely,

The Old Guy

Just maybe if you had actually included to what extent you had and hadn't gone to in your first post we wouldn't be in this situation. The majority of people just go and post straight away and with a question like yours it seemed to be going that way.
Also to assume makes and ass of "u" and "me" apparently.
People put in effort to help but you came out with silly remarks, the best suggestion was the suggestion about Avalanche, because 99% of the time people only think that Fox and Marzocchi are the only real rear shock producers, but you took it the wrong way for that as well.

Also this ones for you, if you have a question to ask but can't take the suggestions keep your mouth f'in shut. Clearly i follow in your footsteps to arguing over the internet.

suvlako,

I am sorry I only really tried to mention Avalache and how their product and overall general service tends to above average. I was merely trying to be helpful in suggestiong another idea for you to possibly find an answer to your original question.

"So my question is, other than the 6 way swinger, what other rear shocks will fit but in the higher bottom bracket setting?"

I realize I did come accross as a bit of a sales-person and I appologise and like I already mentioned at the time I could only assume that Avalanche makes a shock that would fit the Demo 9 as I do not own a Demo 9 and havent tried it nore have bothered to look.

I have gathered up some more info since I last posted though.

Direct from Avalanche.

...looks pretty sweet huh.

http://www.avalanchedownhillracing.com/application.html

The Avalanche DHS 3.0 will fit 100% no worries in the 2004 Specialized Demo 9.

Again, I appologise for only posting an assumption and with my further post's I will try to be more specific.

Sincerely,

The Other Old Guy.

Jeff,

Thanks and I hope you don't think my disgust in the "young guy" had anything to do with you. He clearly is more intersted in arguing on Pinkbike than offering up any important info that might help. I appreciate you checking on that and posting the pic. Unfortunately it just drives home the hypothesis that shocks will only work in the lower shock mount. I will however check with them about mounting it in the upper shock mount. From one old guy to another.... Thanks. Jallan, take notes from Jeff. He doesn't argue, he offers up help.

So just email specialised and fox shox etc...

you know... it figures your an American because your a dick. Why don't you just get another swinger if that's all that fits where you want it?

I am the dick? I am the only person who has shed any light on MY thread... I was trying to get some sort of insight and this Dick calls me lazy not knowing what the f$!ck I have done. I spoke with every tech support guy at Marz, Fox, and Specialized, countless hours in the garage, purchased and returned two shocks. You jags are totally missing the point here!! Don't come on my thread and leave bullshit!! You wanna help, then help. So far you and JALLAN have done nothing more than sling shit and waste my time. Furthermore, leave the geo political comments the f@!$ out of pinkbike.

Been looking through countless pics of Demos to try and find a pics with the rear shock in the higher position. It seems no one ever uses it.

http://sklep.rower.com/products/big/288.jpg

Seems weird that Specialized would spec a bike with a shock that wouldn't fit both settings. I'll keep an eye out. Good luck.
