Ya that's what I figure as well. They won't invest in new 26" designs but keep producing the old ones. I love my minions, no complaints.

Yeah- as much as I'm curious about the new Assegai, I feel the existing Maxxis range is pretty much amazing for all sorts of conditions. I've been living and working out in Cyprus the last couple of years, where the riding is super dry and loose (everything is like dust, gravel or rocks), and have bizarrely found a Shorty on the front to be amazing for sticking the wheel down on DH and a Minion DHR II on the back to drift.

As long as all current models continue to be produced, I don't think we will have a shortage of choices. That said, I was on an instructors course the last few days, and the bikes they were lending out were all 29ers. I took my 26" trail bike and swapped a bit between the two. Having always dismissed the larger wheel sizes as a marketing gimmick, I am really amazed in the difference of feel and riding-style.

I think that'll be my next tire, the shorty. Try something new. I have 27.5 on my trail bike and I can't really tell too much of a difference between that and my 26" gambler. I've tried 29" and it's a lot of fun but not for me. Just too big. I do however love how easy they roll over roots and rocks. I'll be riding a 26er DH bike until they completely go extinct lol.

Alright so I hear a lot of mixed opinions about the Five Ten Freerider Pro/Contact. Do any of you ride them? Are they a worthwhile investment?

Thanks

These are my third pair of freerider contact in two years riding every weekend and at least 2 days during the week.

Also I must say that in Whistler I killed one pair like in a month and a half

I read comments about their durability but IMO they are great.

i could never wrap my mind around whipping or table tops, or well, i could never wrap my mind around any kind of styling. I use clipless and don't know if that makes a difference, i'm tired of jumping straight and really need some good advice. thanks guys.

I'm guessing you are at least somewhat comfortable in the air and you don't go dead sailor. You could try tricks such as no-handers or spinning the pedals in the air. If those are too easy, I'm sure YouTube has plenty of quality tutorials for whips and table tops, they could probably explain it better visually than me describing how to maneuver the bike.

Here are some tutorials that will hopefully help...

Yeah, I guess the first question would be, how comfortable are you in the air? I'd say start simple. Little bar twists are a great way of getting you comfy with manipulating your bike in the air. You can always build from there.

most frames aren't built to support bigger forks. check their site or email them. or if you still put one on you might weaken the frame.

I don't get it either, on my delirium, I actually really wanted a single crown, sold my dual crown and got just that. Putting dual crowns on a bike not made for park/Freeride/DH makes no sense to me at all. Too heavy and will mess with the geo
