hey guys i need some help. looking at getting a good SLR and i've pretty much decided on the 60d because it feels good in my hands compared to the T3i and does everything i need it to do. but i'm unsure of what i should buy.

futureshop packs it with a 18-135mm lens, for $1249
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/canon-canon-eos-60d-18-1mp-dslr-camera-with-18-135mm-lens-kit-future-shop-exclusive-60d-18-135kit/10154253.aspx?path=1e4e813b348b8948a2359cd2a18b0d08en02

or henrys has the standard kit lens which is a 18-200 IS for $1400
http://www.henrys.ca/61804-CANON-EOS-60D-W-EF-S-18-200-IS.aspx

or i could get a body only for $999 but i don't know what lens to get for pretty much general shooting until i have enough for new lenses.

The new rebels don't like Tameron lenses, you will crash/freeze the camera a lot!

Tayler, look at the body only and maybe a Canon 50mm f1.8? $130 retail. I'm shooting professionally with a 60D, why are you jumping to such a high end body off the bat?

It's hardly "such a high end body".

You pay for what you get and if you can afford something like a 60d then go for it, they are a great starting point. I actually quite liked my 18-135 that came with my 7d, it has IS yeah?

For video it's an excellent lens and photographically it is sharp with great colour contrast, although the aberrations are a nuisance. I reccomend that set and then maybe get a 50 1.8/14 further down the line.

hey so I am looking to do one of those night shots where you set up a super slow shutter speeds and it records the light, and I plan on setting it up at the top of a hill, and me and my friend with lights on our helmets ride down. do you have any recomendations for settings other than a super slow shutter speed? camera is a canon eos rebel t2i

Time how long it takes to get down and then back up the hill. if its longer than 30 seconds you'll need an intervalometer or remote shutter release with lock for the 'bulb'/'B' setting, 'B' means that the shutter is open for as long as you hold it down, and the remote trigger has the lock to hold it.

I got the shot. I'll post it in a minute.

This was taken in complete darkness in the night. We both had headlights and rear red lights and we set up a camera on a tripod at the top of the hill. This was the 4th shot and turned out the best. Notice the stars and the moving satellite that it got.

Unless you have remote flashes shooting at night is generally useless.

i think that would just look dumb, really you would need a decent flash if you want to do any kind of night photography, especially of sports.
