My 1994 Marin Bear Valley SE

As I bought it after cleanup.....

1994 Marin Bear Valley SE. As I bought it after a little detailing

The picture isn't that great - I was tired and only had my cell phone.
Saddle will be replaced (it's a Schwinn).
Guessing the only non original parts are tires (Vee Rubber) saddle and pedals (VP-965A).
Head tube, Bear Valley SE and US flag decals are missing, maybe others.
Can still just barely see where the Bear Valley SE decals used to be.

1994 Marin Bear Valley SE When I got it home switched stock grips to bull horns and installed new Ritcheys that I had. Swapped out pedals for Shimano PD-MX30 I had extra. Vee Rubber need replacing - sidewalls all weathered and cracking. Schwin saddle has to go.

After I got it home I swapped out the pedals for some Shimano PD-MX30's that I had originally bought for a 95 Giant Rincon I sold to buy this. Took the stock grips off and put them on the bull horns. Installed some new Ritchey grips that were slated for the Giant. The Giant was in better shape (barely used - still had the excess rubber on the centre of the tires) but the Marin is way better equipped.

1994 Marin Bear Valley SE. NOS Umma Gumma tires installed.

Found some NOS Specialized Umma Gumma tires. 1 More Control S and 1 Pro Control S. Probably going to get some Ritchey tires later (it has Ritchey Rock 440 rims) as I don't think I want the grey look. Went back to the VP-965A pedals it came with. Looked better.

1994 Marin Bear Valley SE. Shimano STX SE crankset. Sadly I don t have the bash guard but it didn t come on the bike. Went back to the pedal that came with it. Not sure if it is the original. VP-956A Aluminum traps plastic body. STX SE front derailleur seen also.

The 94 Bear Valley SE was outfitted stock with Shimano STX SE parts, that were only offered in 94. Crankset, front and rear hubs, front and rear derailleurs, front and rear brakes and the shifter/brake lever combo. The only parts it didn't come with were the bash guard, headset and pedals. Pedals (PD-M323) I don't want, bash guard I'm looking for and I found an NOS headset. Technically, the chain (CN-HG70), bottom bracket (BB-UN51) and cassette (CS-HG60C) are all listed as part of the STX SE group set, but I haven't checked what I have.

1995 Marin Titanium

1995 Marin Titanium

Bought the frame, was told it was a Dean. After researching the serial number, I figured out it was a Marin. Parts are mostly off a too-small-for-me Rocky Mountain Altitude of the same year. I'd like to put the XTR canti brakes on, but don't have the right fork yet. But I do like the Manitou Skareb, and the fact that it has longer travel (100 mm), and kicks the angles back a bit...

A little bit of a let down I guess, based on original value only.
Very nice.........

Started off on a Giant Stance, but quickly realised I wanted to do stuff heavier than the bike could handle. This lead me to getting a swap for this courtesy of Pinkbike:

Marin quake 7.2
Mavic ex729/Hope pro 2
Raceface turbines
Brakes- Nailed off, running mates spare rear
Superstar chain device
Answer stem
Hope headset
Fox DHX5.0
Marzocchi Bomber 66's- Helitaped and fresh, but my riding does not allow things to stay fresh unfortunately Frown

Got a set of novatech wheels waiting for me at a mates house, then I will bang on some SLX brakes and a new crankset and I'll be happy, along with pedals that are not made by Wellgo. The bike has improved my riding ten fold after stepping up from a 650b XC rig.
Oh and check out the sneaky peaks of my local (still under construction).

New 16 ft gap at our trail. Behind it is a landing for a hip, actual gap landing is made up where the log is.

My recent purchase of a barely used 2009 Marin MV 5.6 Pretty much stock besides the shimano Saint flat pedals and The Captain Sport tires. Upgrading stem handlebar and grips soon.

Just purchased a barely used Marin MV 5.6, addicted to it since the first ride. Have some upgrades coming for it as soon as dhl learns to deliver packages on time.

Anyone know the seatpost diameter for a 2004 Mount Vision? Helping out a coworker and I can't just measure it.

From what I can find on the specs, the seatpost is called an Elliot Alloy Micro Adjust, and the info I found on that is saying the diameter is 27.2mm and 300mm in length. Sorry that I can't be 100% sure that is correct but you can look into it more.
