ok, and what do you think about gettting a 2009 frame

if you do, keep your cranks short, like under 170mm. the bb get stupid low when the suspension compresses. i preffered 165mm over all other lengths after trying 175 and 170.

I concur. I had atlas 175 on my sx originally, and I was pedal striking EVERYTHING.

so I have been considering the 165 thing as well. You guys finding it fine for the long haul peddling trips and such?

Yah, it's fine. I even run 165 on my trail bike. I'm just not a fan of hitting pedals. I've done 17 mile rides on both bikes.

I can't speak of certainty about the sx trail. I have the sx dual slalom, and 175 cranks are just too long.

O+

I have 175's on mine and there's not a noticeable increase in pedal strikes over any of my other recent bikes. I say go with the longest crank possible. Helps when standing and cranking away on short blasts uphill.

That's where I would have guessed you being at. I feel like the SX Trail prefers a bit heavier spring than some other bikes. I have run 450-550 on other bikes fine but the 600 feels right for this bike.

I run a 550lb on my 2009 sx and I weigh around 175lbs if that helps.
