Men's Category of Slopestyle Will Not Proceed - Crankworx Rotorua 2024 [Updated with Unified Slopestyle Athlete Statement]
@luckydan: I think the key word is 'sustainable'. It is great to see more females competing in mtb competitions but the growth should be as organic and natural as possible IMO. That way female participation will be a permanent long-term (and sustainable) thing. If the participation is created artificially (through positive discrimination), then it is likely to be short-lived and potentially damaging to the sport overall which will be a disservice to both male and female riders.

Men's Category of Slopestyle Will Not Proceed - Crankworx Rotorua 2024 [Updated with Unified Slopestyle Athlete Statement]
@ransom150: I thought this was the crux of the issue (although Nicoli understandably didn't want to go there). The disproportionate pay increase for women compared with men, when it is the men's show that brings in most of the revenue and viewership. It is a shame there's not more money in the pot for everyone, but even sadder that the men have now boycotted.

I can certainly understand the guys decision in this situation. It's a blow for Crankworks though - the men's slopestyle is one of the top shows.

Bike Check: Dangerholm's Scott Genius ST Concept
@dangerholm: it looks different, which is a good thing. A long time ago when I was young and poor I painted an old bmx frame with Magnolia emulsion as it was the only paint my dad had in the garage.

Must Watch: Kade Edwards Tears Up Dyfi Bike Park in 'Sound of Speed'
Couldn't agree more. Also, Kade had a nac-nac at the end which brought it all together, ha.

Brian's Day 0 Randoms - Taipei Cycle Show 2024
@dgwww: i said certain standards but i really mean freedom of speech, and mainly for the worse. However, there are always two sides and some social justice measures have been for the overall good of society too. It's a tricky balance but we should be really careful not to drift to an extreme place. The whole movement started in the 90's and doesn't look to be slowing, especially in Canada.

Brian's Day 0 Randoms - Taipei Cycle Show 2024
@dgwww: in the UK and Europe there was quite a strong liberal uprising in the 90's as vinay points out. It was 3 decades ago though and I'd say the world has changed a lot in that time, particularly with the technology we have now. The pursuit of social justice in our society today has changed certain standards significantly compared to then (for better or worse), which highlights how ridiculous it is to hold people accountable and tear down statues for so called crimes committed many decades earlier.
