I'm a bit confused, and wondered if i could have some insight. I am looking at all bikes for a new downhill bike, and one thing that struck my mind was perhaps to buy a frame, and build a bike ground up. It would mean i would learn more about the bikes, and if i needed a hand my dad could give me one. However, going through the demo 8, it's quite erratic. The concept store, for the UK at least, has at the moment, a 2016 demo 8 Sworks, 8 carbon and thats it, apart from a carbon frame. However I am sure they havent changed 1 bit from 2015, and I was looking at clearance bikes I believe, and they have a frame like this: http://www.bergwerk.ch/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/74515-11_DEMO_650B-FRM_GAL-ORG-MOTO-ORG-BLK.jpg
the thing that confuses me is that this frame is nothing like the righty design of a demo 8 like this: http://cdn.coresites.factorymedia.com/dirt_new/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Specialized-demo-8-2015-first-look-dirtmountainbike.jpg
Upon reviewing, it seems like the "righty style frame" is only for carbon, but is there much of a difference over the orange frame.
Also, why have I not seen the orange frame for sale in 2015 in the concept store? and is it decent? for £2000 at least

The Orange is a frame only option for the old body style of demo with 650b wheels. Righty design right now is only carbon. As far as geometry goes i don't know exactly the differences, but gwin and the specialized guys were running these alloy 650b frames and troy brosnan won his first world cup on one

The main problem I'm having is restraining myself, I really want a decent bike and don't want to go and spend a huge deal when I'm no where near the best, and don't want to be the guy with all the gear and no idea. However, I like the orange frame, with that being said I would probably order a bike next year. For those of you who have either a righty or the old style frame, what are they like?
Also, what the heel, american website? or pdf?
thanks guys
oh yeah what are your thoughts on a demo 8 (preferably not a carbon one however) for a first "proper DH bike" to solely go to morzine etc, I can do DH but I have never really ridden a proper full out 8" travel DH bike. Am i being ludicrous? cheers guys

I have previously owned 2 older demos, and I currently have the new "righty" frame. Its a great bike for a beginner in my opinion, and it was my first serious mountain bike. All of them are good to learn to jump on, and are equally good at plowing down rocky trails.

Well i think, if the frame is still on sale when I look to start buying components i may well do a from scratch build... this is gonna be fun
Hi. I`m looking for this cable guide for my demo 8 2012. Does anyone has this item for sale? Please PM. Thanks. Please click on image.

Yo just use zip ties. If your worried about the shocks paint, wrap it with tape or something. The cable clip isn't revolutionary, I don't have one my cables are fine. I
Are you hVing trouble with your cables rubbing under compression?
Here's one, looking for input. Just now realized that the specs for the 2015 and the 2016 Specialized S-Works Demo 8's are different. Such as: Top tube length, reach, etc. Stand over height for the "16" remains the same for all sizes, vs the "15" where they change for each size. What is up with that? Will call Specialized this week.
I ride a 2013 Demo size medium, and was doing some research as to what size 2015 Alum 650b frame I should get. The Med, or the long.

Medium felt good to me when I took a run, but it's all preference
