Wolf Tooth Announces Ripsaw Aluminum Flat Pedals
@ceecee: Had nothing to do with pedalling, but a bike rebounding from a bottom out at low speed meaning fairly upward motion of the rear foot. It was a very odd circumstance (going slow through a group of people on a trail I never ride that slow) and I'm not trying to draw any conclusions from it. But it sure as hell won't allow my brain to be comfortable with an arch over axle position anytime soon. The only point I can see here is that while this injury might be rare, if you're putting thought into foot position it's one of the negatives of going further forward with your foot. How much weight you put into that consideration is entirely personal.

Wolf Tooth Announces Ripsaw Aluminum Flat Pedals
@suspended-flesh: Been trying to recover from a talus bone fracture for the past 2 years. I may have had my foot a bit further forward than usual, but the mechanism of injury was exactly as described. Reckon I've moved my foot further towards the ball on axle position since and any closer to arch absolutely freaks me out.

Opinion: The Fight for the Future of Our Mountains
@CYCOlogist818: Some people do that. Everyone is selfish to some extent, it's about how much you bite off for yourself, and how what you leave behind for others. I have no issue with e-bikes themselves. Actually wish I had one or two for some use cases. What I do have issue is exactly access. I build trails, and have for a few years. Difficulty of access used to be a reliable way to build a trail in difficult terrain, give it a chance to get slowly ridden in and stay on top of maintenance. E-bikes undeniably changed that. And entitled e-bikers, not all e-bikers, are going out and away poaching these trails that aren't ready for heavy traffic that just wouldn't have been worth damaging if you had to put an effort getting there. I'm glad e-bikes can keep injured and older people outside and active. I'm not happy to hear my young peers brag about how they did a massive lap on all the sensitive trails they simply couldn't do on a real bike. I have no issue with them having fun. I have an issue with them denying causing more wear on trails that aren't built or ready for "doing 3 laps instead of one" as I often hear.

Opinion: The Fight for the Future of Our Mountains
@tmtb999: I thought of pedalling up but really the Marzocchi poster has DH bikes on it this time so it's a part of that vision. Or I just did a trip with a dh bike so I may be biased.

Vivo Cycling Previews All-Aluminum 12-Speed Derailleur
@bmied31: I literally finish a 40k descent and absolutely exhausted looking 2m ahead of my bike I spot an abrupt transition to a steep uphill. In one full power pedal stroke shift from 12 to 1 and while it did make a noise, it was an absolutely smooth stroke. And the noise is no worse than a regular shift on eagle to be honest. The experience has been consistent having ridden HG+ since release. It does get worse after some wear, but I'm talking hundreds of rides. The xt derailleur dies quicker than I'd like. But as long as it's adjusted properly the HG+ shift is brilliant.

Opinion: The Fight for the Future of Our Mountains
@tmtb999: On the flip side, it may be a bit of a fresh start for MTB culture. In a sense, many new and old riders will migrate into ebikes. It'll likely hurt access for gnarly trails and a lot of cash flow will shift into the E. Just like 20 years ago, some people will be attracted to this weird mode of fully human powered riding over hills or distances, find locations to build new trails suited for those "mountain bikes" and start over. It sucks, but is sort of a part of the cycle of inventions, maybe eBiking will be the new skiing, few brands may stop making good normal bikes and to find good riding, you'll have to move across the country or drive for hours. But at the end of the drive will be this shop with an old Marzocchi poster in it, steep mountain slopes all over the place and no e-bike in sight. Just a few weirdos with mountain bikes shuttling up a mountain.
