ultimate short shox, 200mm - about 156mm rear wheel travel head angle = 62 one day in bike park, so far so goood :]

Thats a bit extreme imo but interesting, you sure its 62? that is actually really really low without other mods. i would think maybe 63-63.5 tops.
But after one goes lower than 8.5x2.5 shock things start to get realllyyy weird from what I've experimented with. I know even with 8.5x2.5 short shock, especially going any lower/shorter the frame starts getting weird cause of the rapidly peaking leverage ratio/suspension curve and that elongated rear wheelbase which makes for a weird ride, and finally that damn rear weight bias because of the already rear-heavy geo + only lowering the rear instead of the front like with an angleset. Too high front end and too biased rear-end. I had barely enough front dependable traction even on relatively steep slopes/runs unless really leaning over bars lol which was annoying.
I would really recommend upping the rear shock size and then purchasing a 1 Deg Angleset + 1x (or 2x) Offset Bushing to get a balanced 64-64.5deg. That's where I found that you have a very balanced DH ride while still having 195mm travel/lots of sag, and imo the best spot without getting too rear heavy or not too steep which is what the VP-Free suffers the most.
Aesthetically, the frame/HT area looks really good in that kind of 63~ HA. But obviously HA doesnt matter if someone has to sacrifice other parts of the frames ride quality.
Here's mine, almost done. Just ordered an angleset finally. Sitting at 65 Deg now, will be 64- 64.5HA depending on 1x or 2x offset bushings in there.
Jus finished stripping the paint of a 2007 I bought this summer; project YOLO!. Now time to restore/replace parts and rebuild. I will post moar pics as i approach completion
My 2007 santa cruz vp-free (Project YOLO) after stripping the paint. still needs a quick buff so that when it oxidizes the dull look is even.

What year is that? Im just looking at the veepee posted above yours, yours, and then mine, and I notice the extra triangle where the seat tube meets the top tube is really large on the pic above yours, not as big on mine, and not existing on yours.

It does not have the gusset triangle between the seat tube and the top tube

my buddies he bought off craigslist also . on the bottom bracket where the #s should be the word" prototype" is inscribed.
that frame might be worth holding onto, have you noticed anything different about it ? gussets angles etc ?
it has all the angles written on it still in felt pen. he emailed them about it , and they were trying to wheel and deal to get it back , and wanted to give him a deal on a new frame or something like that .
Ive purchased a Works Components 1deg angleset and a bunch of other things. The frame is currently getting powder coated. So here are the most recent pictures I took. http://imgur.com/a/BZcXE#zyLpq1D
