That has already been done. As for the 29er on a Fox 40...that is a bit dodgy, with people actually filing the arch to make the tire fit. Might I suggest a Shiver or a White Bros DH 200...that way you can adjust your axle to crown height for clearence with a 29er and you don't have to worry about the arch....this was done by Alex Morgan of BCD bikes back in 2006. He raced his 29er DH at the World Masters in Kamloops BC and it was a cool concept, but it had limitations, such as tire/wheel choice and long travel frame design for DH bikes. The fork he used was a White Bros inverted. That seem to be the most aplicable fork for the concept due mostly to the size of a 29er wheel.

Anyway this is about home shops not 29er concepts.
