this teuton guy seems to post pointless messages reccomending different things in all these threads and he just seems to list names of bikes that he's seen and think look cool without ever riding one or knowing much about them at all other than price.im not going to reccomend anything cos i don't know much bout 4x bikes, other than saying that i agree with the guys that are saying go for wither 4x or dh, a bike for both would just end up being a bit crap at both.
If you want a bike to do both, it won't be great at either. 4X courses are meant to have 4X bikes, and DH the same. Can you ride the same bike on both? Yeah. Will it be a competitive race bike for both? Not likely. If you insist on a bike for both, look into a 5-6.5" travel bike with like a Fox 36 Talas or a Marzocchi 55 ATA, so I would suggest a Santa Cruz Heckler, or a Foes FXR. Not too much travel so they still pedal well, but they can work on smoother DH courses. Of course people will be advising Transition which are nice bikes, but I think they're kinda overhyped and tend to be built heavy. The Giant Reign is a good choice as well as a Trek Remedy. Word of advice though, if you will be riding fast and rough DH courses, you will be slaughtered by the guys on full DH bikes.
Teuton, If you own a Reign how come you spell Reign wrong everytime
BTW, A Reign will be to heavy and has far to much travel for 4x
You need to decide whether you wish to go down the DH route, or the 4x route...
Reign 4x . . . It's a model . . .
I didn't see the Reign 4x being suggested by our genius, did I?
f*ck you i suggested like 4 bikes i was just trying to help i dont know much about 4x but i know little more about downhill so if you could stop being a dick that would be great
