So I just got an Epson R3000 Printer and I am now addicted to seeing my photos printed relatively big (13"x19"). Is anyone else doing any inkjet printing in house and if so, what papers are you digging?
I do printing for my school projects on my inkjet (workbook not final prints) and use lexmark glossy paper. It's certainly not pro standard, but for everyday prints simply for seeing them in front of you it's very good.

Jealous, I miss freely being able to print amazingly big images.
I looked out some old prints I did that I marked the paper types on the back but stupidly didn't put down the paper brands.
My faves were Innova Fibaprint semi matte for landscapes, really love the texture of that paper and the other one which I printed a few portraits and studio shots on was a Silver Gloss 300gsm paper. Also I preferred my black and whites printed on a Warm tone 300gsm.
Gonna buy a still life table tomorrow and some gels so I can start shooting again. Starting from yesterday I have decided to get my ass back in gear and sort myself out haha.

I have an Epson 3880 (I 3 my dad when he drops money on camera related shit just because he can). I've just used Epson paper so far, but I'm liking the quality. Sometimes I think the blacks and overall darker tones are a little off, but I think that's me not knowing how to use it correctly, rather than hardware limitation.

or you don't have you're monitor calibrated, or are using improper drivers for the paper etc etc.
Epson doesn't have ICC profiles for all their papers for my printer, which is an entry level professional unit...
yep, I had the the 38 something, and I had a shit ton of issues getting proper rendition off my mac. The Pixma 9000 was awesome, and I'm planning on getting a 9500mk2 now. The blacks I feel are alot better then the epsons, but its more expensive on inks.
I wouldn't print epson paper for a client, since you're in the states, you can likely get Red River for cheap, and I found it to be quite alot nicer than the epson or canon paper.

Monitor is calibrated using a Spyder 3, and the drivers are right. There's two to check off the list haha. I really need to read the book I bought about it...

there's a shit load of options for it on print set up, read the manual, everything from paper to type. there's lots of ways to f*ck up, and I'm asuuiming you have it on Adobe RGB not sRGB, and at least 300dpi/ppi?
