SPDs may be the `winners choice` but there are people who can`t remove the negative thoughts about being clipped in and will therefore slow down in difficult sections. If you have this sort of mindset, flats will probably be better for you, as you can focus more with less distracting thoughts rattling around your head. SPDs are only quicker if you can take advantage of their benefits.
