just go to PC world and buy one. anything bigger than 22" and with a response time lower than 5ms is good to go.

K.

Try NEC, they're nice. Typically come with 90 degree rotation capability, lots of mounting adjustments, and a USB hub (good for mouse, keyboard, stuff like that).

Samsung makes a really nice monitor. 1080p 2ms response time, 1000:1 native contrast ratio, 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. VGA DVI and HDMI inputs

NOOOOOOOOO, go with an i7 1366 socket (triple-channel RAM). Otherwise you're wasting your money on the 12GB of RAM and you might as well back it down to 9GB.

That was charges recommendation.

Full pc is costing £1350! (monitor, keyboard, mouse included)

So I only have £150 more I could spend on processor.

Decided to take your advice!

Can I squeeze any more upgrades on what is current with £80?

Dude, if you're getting i7 you NEED to get a 1366 socket. It allows you to do triple-channel RAM, so you get like 50% more bandwidth there. Shouldn't really cost any more either. Definitely sacrifice some clock speed for the triple-channel though if you have to. I heard that the i7-920s are notoriously overclockable even with the stock heatsink Wink

He's getting a sandybridge i7. He doesn't need a socket 1366 motherboard.

Is the sandybridge stuff triple-channel?

Is the sandybridge stuff triple-channel?

Not to my knowledge. And if it's not, it's perfectly fine.

I was just thinking that triple-channel would be MUCH better for his purposes, and it wouldn't really cost that much more.

where do you get the idea triple channel memory is so VASTLY superior to dual channel that he HAS to get it no matter what? Its not. Never was.
