In my opinion, I would choose a freeride bike for the fact that it is diverse. You can ride pretty much anywhere/anything with ease.

the 08 stinky dee lux are very nice bikes, but i think that they are about the same as the glory fr. so you might look into those. Stinkys are more big hit, while the glory is north shore and trail with some drops. The main difference is that the stinky has the therapy and the triple crown 888 RCV and the glory has a single with a 66RC3. If i had the choice i would get the glory just because they have a little bit better rep than kona

I would like a bike under 45 pounds.

I was think'in about a Glory 1, bighit, demo7 or 9. I ride around town and up some hills.

the glory would be your best choice out of those. have you considered an specialized sx?

I just bought a Cove Shocker and it the best of both worlds to me, fast and light around 45 lbs for my build and haven't taken it off any drops over 15ft but i would imagine it could handle it.

i would go for a specialized sx, I would if i could find one around $2000.

in that case, i would get a yeti asx. I ove mine. ITs has amazing handleing, and has 7 inch of travel. Which means that it can ride dh and is a good freerider. plus the asx is cheaper than both of those.
