I'm just wondering what the distance should be between each jump. I've made my first jump and I don't want to waste a ton of time because the second one is too close or far.

measure from the top of your landing to the top of the next lip. one rule of thumb is that distance should be double the length of the gap you just cleared.

build it too far to give room to expand, and for the jumps to grow, i personally say for a fresh set the length of the lip and the landing distance in the bomb hole, minimum is the length of the landing

Really I like to build on a very slight down hill. Each jump can get a little bit different, bigger, longer ect... Point is, I like to build and ride. As they get ridden and packed you get a better feel for how big the next jump can be. IE, if you can over shoot by a foot, make the next one a foot longer...

Would any of you recomend using logs as back suport but not actualy in the jump?

Sure I've even buried them inside. They get so compressed if you cover them completely hey can take for ever to rot.
