I am between this two forks for my DH race rig but I can´t decide which one. The 888 is on the heavy side (about 3.6kg) but on the other hand it has the reliability (3 years with no maintenance?!) and smoothness of classic Marzos. The Boxxer is much lighter than the 888 but it´s an air suspension, and I´ve never used air forks for DH, and I dont know if they really are as smooth as a 888 or a Fox 40 (my current fork).
Well, if you want a good medium, go for the boxxer teams. They are smoother than the world cups (from what i have heard, never tried world cups but the teams i tried were nice) and alot lighter than the 888's, plus they are quite a bit cheaper than both. The 888's are the smoothest of the three by far (again, from what i have heard) so if you want a really smooth fork go for them but if you want a light fork stay away.

Thanks for the reply Rob. My only options are the '09 888 RC3 WC and the '09 Boxxer WC, it´s a "sponsor" kind of thing so the price tag doesn´t even matter here. No other options really...
PS: it says 09 Boxxer WC but it´s already from the new generation of the 35mm. Just to clear that out
Yeah I´m more into the Boxxer too, but kind of afraid about the reliability of it... I´ve been racing with Fox 40´s for quite some time now and they weren´t that reliable at all and caused me some problems on some situations... Just don´t want to have problems with my new forks all the time too...
So, to sum things up until now: Boxxer: 1 / 888: 0
The thing about the 2009 marzo's is that they weren't made as well as the pre-07 and post-2010 as they were produced in taiwan. The quality during his time dropped and marzocchi lost alot of support. The 2010 boxxers should be better than the marzocchi's so thats definately where i would go

this is true. however 2010-11 888ti rc3 are better than the boxxers for sure.

Well that sums it up for me, thank you guys! Which I could go for a 888ti Rc3 2011 but oh well...
