Just thought I'd make this thread to see who are affected and what your views are on it. I'm not affected by the riots yet but there are rumours that it'll start soon nearby my town.

Anyone welcome to join in, even if you're overseas.

How the riot started:

A youth who was shot by the police Tottenham (London) was the cause of the riots.

For those of you who don't know there has been rioting over:

-London

-Birmingham

-Liverpool.

More riots may outbreak in other cities too.

Info on the riots

Sad to see what my generation would do...

So what? A gangster who fired on Police got shot? Not like that happens all the time in America. They don't have mass riots when things like that happen.

People are just using it as an excuse to flare up trouble and loot everything.

I've been following the drama, not impressed like..

To keep it short and sweet, I work hard and pay a huge amount of income tax, my council tax is huge and for it to be paying for the clean up of this crap is unacceptable. It grinds my gears that us hard working folks already support the lazy and addicted, this is just another kick in the balls..

Why has this situation been allowed to escalate to this scale? Plastic bullets and water cannons should have been used asap to act as a deterrent. The police are powerless to act 100% because of paperwork and fear of uneducated public outcry.

Reminds me of stuff that happened back in France some months or years ago, with some drug dealers and robbers shot some police car, they fought back, 1 dead on the thieves' side, and 4 days of riots followed. Countless cars burnt down, houses set on fire, stores looted, ...

Sad to see the point we have come to ...

It's pretty bad, as far as I see it, it's an excuse to loot really in other cities. On facebook people are organising riots/looting on facebook pages. There was one in a nearby town by me but they deleted the page luckily.

just because the page is down, won't stop it happening.

I suppose so, but there were only a few likes on the page so I'm not sure if many people saw it. Rumour is (just a rumour though) that they're organising a riot/looting spree in Northampton (nearby town) on the 13th.

yeah, rumours are that it's going to be in my neighbouring town, not exactly surprised, it's a shit hole (Stevenage)

Are they rioting or just looting though?

Also, news from the local police in my area is:

bigquotes
In relation to social media messages (facebook pages) inciting or promoting violence and disorder within Northants, Officers have arrested two males one aged 18 and the other aged 19.
