Im gonna be buying a totem soon for my M3, it has a 1.5 headtube so it will be pretty stiff, but i cant decide which model i should get, the Coil, Solo-Air or 2-Step. Im gonna use it for mostly dh but some freeride. and wheight doesnt matter, all i care about is performance.

the M3 is designed to be a race bike why not put some boxxers, fox 40s or 888s on it like it was designed for? and im pretty sure the M3 has a 1 1/8 headtube too but im not positive

if you want performance just get the coil, the solo is a little sticky but its lighter, totems are light in general though. just be sure to replace the speed lube frequently or else you will leak oil and stuff, thats why everyone thinks totems suck, just cuz they dont maintain them enough. its ver easy to change the speed lube if you dont already know.

i put a 66 and a domain now on my norco team dh. i like the lower ride height and it makes the bike feel a oittle more flickable.

the regular M3's sold to the public which everyone knows does have a 1 1/8 headtube but mine was build for manitou to test their new products on it, like their single crowns so mine does have a 1.5 headtube. there are only 2 other ones like mine, one of them was at sea otter this year.

you wont lower the ride height with a totem, it has the same axle to crown height as a boxxer.
the biggest downside to a totem is the lateral stiffness, that extra crown is there for a reason on race bikes, extra support when that fork is getting pushed back on keeps it tracking better.
M3s all have 1-1/8ths so youd be set for a totem or a boxxer.

Good for you, i wasnt questioning wether you did or not, I was telling him, like you said 99% of them have 1-1/8th headtubes.

if you're just gonna DH/Fr it, then coil for sure. I have a 2 step lyrik, and its fine NOW, after 3 trips to sram for a different air cartridge, then they gave me u turn, now ANOTHER air cartridge. Works great now though!

Coil is nicer for durabilitys sake. Id go double crown, but if youre stuck on the totem, then coil it is

totem coil is your best bet. Cheaper then 2 step and also feels much better progressive wise. My friend has 1 in 1.5 steerer, mega stiff. Also get the 08 model then u wont have any seal problems.
