These actually start to properly work at like 500°C. A bit like brake pads with sintered and organic: you need to heat up a bit the pads in order to have the sintered pads work at their best.
yeah something like that but for a bike, i know theres tons of discs painted black in the middle, was just wondering if theres any that are entirely black for my DJ

And I doubt it would be efficient on a DH bike
Actually, those are the Porsche Carrera GT's brakes, and they are vice-grips at -10F. The newer carbon-ceramic materials are COMPLETELY different from the stuff they used to use in F1. There's a guy on MTBR who was doing machine work with the stuff and made a set for his bike. He estimated that a 160mm rotor in that size would be overkill even for the most intense downhill use.
The downside? Based on material costs alone, his set would have been ~$1500 PER WHEEL!!
But with the big DH sleds topping $10k, perhaps they're not that far out...
