I know people hate these types of threads, but i don't really care, I need help deciding which one to get. I have had a chance to test ride the 2011 Demo 8 and loved it, I thought it was a little low, but loved it anyways. I have not had a chance to test ride a 2011 Scott Gambler 20, for some reason there are no bike stores in Arizona that carry them in store. I do not intend on racing, I'm just out to have fun going fast with friends. I ride mostly steep, rocky, tight, alpine type DH, there are quite a few jumps and drops, but nothing over 6 feet. To get a feel for the type of riding I do, look up Sunrise Ski Park Arizona, there are some pretty decent examples of the trails I ride.

Go gambler man, demo's are good but everyone has one, and the blue gambler is siiiccckkk.
Go for the gambler mate , I bought a 2009 one from chain reaction cycles 6 months ago and I'm purely blown away by it , really plush suspension it totally out performs the 888 RC3's on the front in my view , jumps really well , pedals well naturally being single pivot , I would say it's best aspect is really choppy/rough high speed off the brakes stuff. , but at the same time I can still rip it through stuff that's more suited to smaller bikes. Some would say the weight it a bit of an issue but having cracked 2 of the light weight frames I have owned I see this as a reassuring positive , mine weighs 43 pounds and I made no effort at all to build it light , it could easily be under 40 pounds with boxxers/40's/newer 888's and such. If the 2012 version is an improvement on it then it's gonna be amazing !

I have the 2009 gamber 20 with 2010 world cup boxxers, it's amazing combination!
Does anybody know of any problems with either of these bikes?
I would get the demo, its lighter and looks better. If your into jumping the demo is damn nice also, gambler is more "dead" and feels like a V10 from 2007.
The gambler also weigh inn at 18,9KG (41,66 lbs), not sure about the Demo, but i would guess like 17,5Kg.
And i do not ride Gamler or Demo.
Forgot to write "WC 20" on the Gambler. And yes, they name their models WC and not DH for 2012.
Out of these two I would suggest the demo. I have owned a 2008 demo (i'm guessing the newer one is even better) and have tested a friend of mines gambler and the demo was a much nicer ride.

Ifs hes looking for a race bike I would suggest the Gambler adjustable geometry and what not really find what hes looking for in the bike and the amount of demos out there he would just be another guy with a demo.

demos are sweet race bikes. There is a reason so many people are on one. Same reason everybody used to be on a Sunday or V10 four years ago at the races. The demo is an unsurpassed frame design right now. It may have a few equals but none that beat it.

If you want a gambler more, get it, would be a sweet ride. If you look at getting a gambler only because lots of people have demos, thats a poor reason.
