I have a Iron Horse 6point raw frame but I had my buddy strip the old paint. He said he mostly used steel or brass wool. Is either one better to get certain quality finish?? He left some paint behind and its been looking not as clean and kinda dull lately. If i was to use a powered steel brush wheel (think it has steel brushes) would that be okay to shine it up and then clearcoat or is that not recommended?? It is a 6069 Aluminum.

steel will scratch the hell out of aluminum.
I used industrial-strength paint remover, followed by progressively finer grit sandpaper (wet sanded all the way to ~2000 grit), followed by a few hours of work with polishing compound to get a mirror finish.
in my experience clearcoat didn't stick whatsoever to the mirror finish. I ended up 3M'ing the frame where my shin pads and feet would rub.

Do you know if brass wheel would help clean it up. I will eventually try to put in some work for a mirror finish but for now I think I'll just keep it a cleaned up sick just plain raw frame. Do you know if using any type of brass wheel would damage the frame. I tried a small fine brass wire wheel on it and it seemed to clean it up fairly nicely. If using this all over including the welds would it be at all damaging??

no experience with brass wheels. I'd be worried that using a brass wheel would put a million scratches into the frame, giving it a brushed look.
maybe it would work fine, but knowing how many hours I put into my Glory I'd go with polishing wheels instead. may take alot longer, but polishing out scratches is an incredible PITA.

Well the thought was to use brass instead of steal. A fine brass wire wheel because brass is usually softer than aluminum and shouldn't scratch it..???
