im getting a 2008 specialized p.1 and i wanna upgrade th rims to sun ringle MTX. ive heard that the bb is really low and that 24's would be to small. does anyone know if thats true?
If the 08's are the same as the 07's, 26. 69evan69 on here has 24 on the back of his 07 p.2 and the crank hits if you take a corner to low while pedaling. I learned that the hard way.
why have the bigger tire in the front and smaller one on the back? i think it kinda looks odd..but that's my id go with 26's i love them nicer ride too..
who is stupid enough to pedal while leaning in a corner I would go with 24's if i were you because the do dirt jump a lot better. the difference between the two is that 24's get you going a lot quicker and the 26's go faster once your up to speed. so 24's = acceleration and 26's = better top speed. that is my
I run 26 in the front, 24 in the back. Changes my head-tube angle, slowing my turning speed, which makes the bike handle a lot better. Plus I've found that the front end just pops up so much easier (seriously, it's amazing).
If you're worried about crank clearance, get a really large tire (I use a 2.6", which makes the difference between my front and back tires only about 1.5" at the most).
Worse comes to worse, and you cannot make up your mind, see if you can find a set (24/26) that a buddy has and borrow it for a couple rides, see how you like it, then decide from there.
I dunno about the 08' models, but I've got a 04 P.2 and I had a 05 P.1 cromo (24X26) I kinda liked the 24X26 combo, made the bike really flickable, you were able to throw the front over the bigger stuff without worry. but this really isnt for everyone. I tried dual 24's for a while and just hated the feeling of the P. bike. so I went back to 26" and it was problem solved. the bike was designed for 26" you're "getting" a P.1 ... I'm guessing you haven't bought it yet? still not too late to consider a 24" specific bike.
