I am thinking about getting a blk mrkt killswitch. I want to run it geared, can i use a qr rear axle in the horizontal dropouts and just run the axle all the way foward in the dropouts and still run it geared or should i buy the vertical dropouts
It list all three as an option . standard would be I am guessing if you were to just order it straight and not saying anything . To get the horizontal with the different options I would call or talk to the dealer to get the correct setup.
Drop-Outs: Horizontal w/ integrated hanger (standard), Maxle w/ integrated hanger (optional), vertical w/ integrated hanger (optional) But all three have the hanger
If you want to run gears, I strongly suggest vertical dropouts. I was told by a LBS that they run $80 a piece to order afterwards. So if you're buying new - specify which dropouts you want.
My only concern with running gears is that with even the slightest rear wheel slip within the horiz dropouts you will mess up your shifting and if this happens mid day during a run this would put a damper on your day to adjust your axle and shifting in the field - even if it only takes a few minutes.
I ride a 22.5"tt Mob, and I bought a 23tt" Killswitch. It turns out the "cockpit" size of the Killswitch is a lot longer.
This is what happened when I lined up the bottom brackets: Unsecure image, only https images allowed: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh138/upsetbmx/Blackmarket_Killswitch_CMC006.jpg more discussion here: Killswitch Update http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/f61/killswitch-update-239886/
