I own one and I can't find any fault with it. With a claimed weight of 38 lbs, weight is not an issue at all. The suspension is smooth but for my personal preference I would put a Rockshock Vivid Air in the rear and a Boxxer WC up front. I am 140 lbs and air makes it possible for me to dial it in for my riding needs. With that said, the Demo 8-1 is ready to shred straight out of the box. The Specialized Status is better for the newbie who wants to try their hand at DH racing. Lastly, if you want to spend that extra 2k for the Demo 8-2 then go for it. I would have went for it but I just couldn't afford it. Nevertheless, I'm happy with my Demo!Big Grin

Pretty sure I have literally never seen some say they didn't like riding a demo... light, single pivot, no brake jack, good angles... not much to not like. Only possible drawback is if you prefer a virtual pivot I suppose. I ride a 2009 demo and the only non vpp bike I'd trade it for would be the new demo.

FYI Demos are FSR not single pivot. No Specialized bikes are single pivot.

Hah true that was pretty dumb, I guess I always thing of them as just an elaborate single pivot which is why I said that. Still fun and poppy like a single pivot, but more vertical wheel path and no brake jack thanks to the extra triangle. But ya saying it's a single pivot is totally incorrect my bad.
